Does anyone love sharks? These jaws (from the Smithsonian) belong to a prehistoric shark that could have swallowed me whole. Yikes!
All of us have demons swimming around in our deep, dark oceans . . . ones that could swallow us whole if we let them. However, the Lord gave this promise to His servant, Joseph Smith: "[A]bove all, if the very jaws of hell shall gape open the mouth wide after thee, know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good" (D&C 122:7, emphasis added).
What a promise! Everything we go through will be consecrated for the benefit of our souls. And Christ has promised that he will not leave us alone: "Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest" (Joshua 1:9).
Who is afraid of the Jaws of Hell now?
