We Know the Greatest Plan

God has a plan for His children. As a missionary, I have the opportunity to teach people about this plan of happiness—and I love watching the change that it makes in people's lives.

Alma, a Book of Mormon prophet, teaches that "Therefore God gave unto them commandments, after having made known unto them the plan of redemption [or happiness]" (Alma 12:32; emphasis added). God doesn't expect us to keep His commandments until He has told us why—and when we know why, we want to keep the commandments because we know that they will bring us happiness. The prophet Joseph Smith taught this truth:
"[I]n obedience there is joy and peace unspotted, unalloyed;  and as God has designed our happiness … He never has—He never will institute an ordinance or give a commandment to His people that is not calculated in its nature to promote that happiness which He has designed, and which will not end in the greatest amount of good and glory to those who become the recipients of his law and ordinances" (qt. in Answers to Life's Questions; emphasis added).
I know that the commandments are designed for our happiness, and I trust in the plan of my God. I reiterate the promise of President Boyd K. Packer, who said, "If you understand the great plan of happiness and follow it, what goes on in the world will not determine your happiness" (The Father and the Family).

Live the plan and be happy.
