Inspiration is like the dew that covers leaves in the early morning . . . it is everywhere. | |
The word
inspiration means "Divine guidance given by God to man" (
LDS Bible Dictionary). Prophets speak poetically about the nature of inspiration, and I love these words:
"My doctrine shall drop as the rain,
my speech shall distill as the dew,
as the small rain upon the tender herb,
and as the showers upon the grass."
--Deuteronomy 32:2
Inspiration is all around us--it covers our our lives like dew covers early morning plants. Think for a minute about what inspires you. Make a list. Mormon, a prophet in
The Book of Mormon, also listed several things that inspired the Nephite people:
"The Nephites were inspired by a better cause . . . they were fighting for their homes and their liberties, their wives and their children, and their all, yea, for their rites of worship and their church." --Alma 43:45
Did family appear on your list? What about your freedom? Did you mention anything spiritual? I know that these are the things that inspire me; these are the things that I hold dear to my heart. The gospel of Jesus Christ enhances my appreciation of my family, my freedom, and knowledge of God.
