Smell the Blossoms

I've been thinking lately about how important it is to enjoy the little things. I'm constantly guilty of this form of ingratitude, and I love what Elder Uchtdorf says about it:
Sometimes in life we become so focused on the finish line that we fail to find joy in the journey . . . Doesn’t it seem foolish to spoil sweet and joyful experiences because we are constantly anticipating the moment when they will end? (Of Regrets and Resolutions).
This principle extends to feeling the spirit. How can we feel the spirit when we are constantly anticipating the end of our current experience? The spirit is something to be felt; being aware of the moment is crucial. I felt the spirit on Monday when I was visiting the memorials in D.C., and I felt it because I took the time to listen. Even looking at the beautiful cherry blossoms became a spiritual experience that reaffirmed my testimony of a loving God.
